Behind The Ear (BTE)
A Behind-The-Ear Hearing Aid directly hooks over the top of the ear and rests behind the ear.
Every sound that an ear cannot amplify is made audible by hearing aids. A person with hearing loss can participate in daily activities and listen to noises with the use of hearing aids. People's hearing and verbal understanding are improved by it.
Every hearing aid includes an ear mould that fits inside the ear to improve comfort and sound quality. The ear mould is either plastic or silicone made custom-fit mould which is either protruding or tucked inside the ear/ around the ear. Depending on the severity of the hearing loss, ear moulds are chosen.
Uncertain if a hearing aid is the best option for you? Let's see whether you qualify by having your hearing tested. Hearing aids will be suggested based on your hearing loss and way of living. Demonstrate a set of hearing aids to experience how they sound and feel firsthand. If you decide to proceed with the selected devices, a hearing aid fitting is scheduled at the patient’s convenience.
The actual fitting of the hearing aids comes next. The outcomes of the diagnostic hearing test are used to digitally programme hearing aids. By placing a tiny microphone in the ear canal, real-ear measurements are made to assess the actual sound supplied from the hearing aid at the level of the ear drum. Following your approval of the aids' comfort and sound quality, information is given so you can maintain the aids on your own. Cleaning procedures are described and battery replacement is put into practise.
You learn how to put the aids in and take them out, as well as how to use any controls on the aids, at the end of the session. Following the completion of all inquiries, we will arrange a follow-up for one to two hours.
Every three to four months, we advise a hearing aid check to ensure the device is functioning properly and to give it a complete cleaning. For the duration of the hearing aid's life, the patient is not charged for these inspections. At least once a year, a new hearing test will be given to look for any changes in hearing sensitivity. The hearing aids are modified to account for the loss whenever a change is recorded.
When problems arise with the hearing aids, an appointment can be scheduled within a quick time frame. Most hearing aid related problems can be fixed in the office. If the aid needs to be sent back to the manufacturer, a loaner hearing aid will be provided if requested. Troubleshooting is no cost for patients within their service warranty.
